The weekend of 15th January 2016 saw the Greek based travel bloggers – Travel Bloggers Greece – celebrate its first anniversary. Travel Bloggers Greece are proud to announce that through a continued parea of like-minded colleagues and friends, the group has grown from strength to strength and continues in its quest to promote Greece to the world with high quality content written and shared by its professional members.
In order to celebrate this achievement, Travel Bloggers Greece were offered the opportunity to combine formal meeting and celebration with relaxation at the Thermae Sylla Spa in the spa town of Edipsos, on the Greek island of Evia. What better way to celebrate an anniversary!
Friday 15th January saw members of the group arriving at different times; some arriving earlier and able to swim in the outdoor or indoor thermal waters of this magnificent spa hotel, reputed to be within the top 10 in the world. All were greeted with a warming herbal tea and shown to their rooms.
The evening Welcome Dinner brought the majority of its members together for the first time in 2016 and a delicious meal was served, along with Thermae Sylla bio wines.
After a buffet breakfast on the Saturday morning, the bloggers were then ready to be shown the spa facilities the hotel had to offer by the very helpful P.R. Manager and organizer of the event, Mrs Voula Karatziou–Anastasopoulou. Tempted by the warm pools, various therapeutic or medicinal treatments on offer such as mud wraps and hammams, first the serious business of the Travel Bloggers Greece round-up meeting.
Here the bloggers discussed new projects, Elena Sergeeva – original founder of Travel Bloggers Greece – shared her experiences and knowledgeable tips she gained from attending TBEX in Asia whilst Rebecca Hall – a founding member shared with the group her experiences and tips learnt from the World Travel Market in London.
Once questions and answers were raised, the relaxation could begin! The rest of the afternoon was spent either swimming in the indoor or outdoor thermal pool, relaxing by the poolside or sweating off the days excesses in one of three Hammers (farmers steam bath) or choosing a treatment such as mudwrap and physiotherapy massage.
After resting, the bloggers prepared themselves for a last night celebration dinner and were dolled up to the nines in their finery! Again, the meal was of a 5* standard with all locally sourced products and local wines. The piece de resistance, however, was the surprise anniversary cake that the hotel had created. To laughter and cheers, “Happy Birthday Travel Bloggers Greece” was sung and sparklers lit.
Another buffet breakfast followed on Sunday morning, followed by more treatments and relaxation before heading off, extending a warm thanks to the Thermae Sylla Spa and promises to each other that the Travel Bloggers Greece would be meeting soon to discuss more ideas and future engagements. A photography lesson was also held by TBG member and photo blogger Dimitris Asithianakis.
Thank you to the Thermae Sylla Spa hotel and staff for their friendliness and for making the weekend a memorable one.
